We try to make your first visit to our office a comprehensive evaluation of all aspects of your bite.  Besides the usual personal information, medical and dental history, we will take other diagnostic information.  Usually, we take a panoramic x-ray to evaluate the health, position and eruption of your teeth.  Intra and extra-oral photos are taken with a digital camera of your face and mouth.  These are extremely helpful in discussing what is going on in your mouth and what may need to be done.  Also, we perform a detailed visual exam of your teeth and bite.

Once this information is obtained, we have a review of your diagnostic information where we discuss need for treatment, timing of treatment and an estimate of approximate fees for treatment.  We will also recommend the next steps necessary to proceed with treatment or if additional time is needed for growth or tooth eruption until your recall evaluation.

The time reserved for you at this first visit is 45 minutes.  Frequently, we can proceed with obtaining the balance of the diagnostic information immediately after your initial visit.  Many patients appreciate this efficiency in saving them from returning to our office for an additional appointment.  At a later visit, all diagnostic information will be reviewed as well as any final treatment details.
